Pastor Bill Monroe
Pastor of Florence Baptist Temple
Our history
In November 1969, a young preacher and his wife, Norma, moved back to South Carolina with a simple dream: plant a Bible-preaching church that would win people to Christ and make disciples.
They rented an abandoned World War II theater near the Florence airport. The building was hot in summer, cold in winter, and home to more than a few “critters.” Eighteen people came to the first service. From those humble beginnings grew Florence Baptist Temple, Florence Christian School, worldwide mission work, and a broadcast ministry that continues today.
