Jesus’ Last Message to the Church – Philadelphia & Laodicea –22 In this message from Pastor Bill Monroe’s ongoing Revelation series, “Know What’s Next,” we come to the final two of the seven churches addressed by the Lord Jesus Christ in Revelation chapters 2 and 3. These churches represent the present church age and reveal both the strengths and dangers facing believers today. First, we look at the church at Philadelphia, the faithful church. Though they had only “a little strength,” they kept God’s Word and did not deny His name. The Lord set before them an open door of opportunity—a reminder that during the church age God is calling out a people for His name through the preaching of the gospel. Then we examine the church at Laodicea, the lukewarm church. Unlike the others, it receives no commendation from the Lord. Though materially rich and self-satisfied, Jesus declares them spiritually wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked. In one of the most striking pictures in Scripture, Christ stands outside the door of His own church, knocking and waiting for entrance. This message challenges every believer and every church with a solemn question: Will we be faithful like Philadelphia, or lukewarm like Laodicea? Scripture: –22 Series: Revelation — Know What’s Next
