Sardis: A Church With a Name to Live, But Dead –6 In this message from the Revelation series, Pastor Bill Monroe examines Christ’s sobering words to the church at Sardis. Though this church possessed a reputation for life, the Lord declared its true spiritual condition—dead. Yet the message is not without hope. Christ calls Sardis to watch, strengthen the things that remain, remember the truth they had received, and repent. Even in a declining church, the Lord points to a faithful remnant and promises that the overcomer’s name will never be blotted out of the Book of Life but will be confessed before the Father. This message reminds believers that reputation, activity, and history cannot substitute for genuine spiritual life.
