Revelation: Know What's Next

About this sermon

In this message from the continuing Revelation series Know What’s Next, Pastor Bill Monroe takes us into the throne room of heaven where John sees a book sealed with seven seals in the right hand of Almighty God. A mighty angel asks the question that echoes throughout heaven and earth: “Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?” (Revelation 5:2). When no man is found worthy, John weeps until he is told to look again. In the midst of the throne stands a Lamb as it had been slain—the Lord Jesus Christ, the only One qualified to redeem creation and reclaim the earth. The Scriptures reveal why Christ alone is worthy. He is God the Creator (John 1:1–3; Colossians 1:16–17), the promised seed of the woman (Genesis 3:15), of the tribe of Judah (Genesis 49:9–10), and the descendant of David whose kingdom will endure forever (Psalm 89:3–4). When the Lamb takes the book, heaven erupts in worship as angels, elders, and every creature proclaim, “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain” (Revelation 5:12). This passage reminds us that Revelation is not merely about future events—it is the unveiling of Jesus Christ and His rightful claim to rule and reign.
